Technical leadership of the detailed design delivery for the value engineering and construction phase on behalf of NZTA for the landmark pedestrian bridge that provides a gateway to Auckland from the north and spans 12 lanes of motorway traffic. Including the detailed design of: the 103m long multi-faceted pedestrian bridge incorporating an acrylic glazing system, secondary steelwork, primary steelwork and prestressed deck slab units. The bridge structure is fully accessible by the use of an integral reinforced concrete cellular approach ramp and an innovative steel and concrete composite lift and stairway providing access to the reinforced concrete viewing platform. Successful design liaison saw effective construction staging in order to gain truss continuity over the intermediate pier. Jacobs Ladder footbridge was a finalist in the ACENZ 2013 Innovate awards.
