Following the successful tender design and as a senior member of the design team allocated the design development of the super and substructure solution of the 110metre long continuous pre-stressed Chapel Street Eastbound Off Ramp Bridge (CESBOR) spanning the periphery of the Waikareao Estuary. This bridge saw the first use of self-compacting concrete for super T girders on a State Highway structure. My contribution included design management, design task allocation including 3 dimensional modal analysis for extreme seismic events including soil liquefaction at depths greater than 30m, resource monitoring, mentoring, building consent submission, report writing, peer review liaison and design refinement with our client and project partner Fletcher Construction.
Successful tender design and construct submission with Fletcher Construction. Structural design solutions optioneered compiling out turn costs for the 600m long incremental launched concrete box girder New Harbour Bridge and the 650metre Chapel Street Viaduct and the associated on and off ramps. This involved the development of pre-stressed concrete and steel composite construction options with different articulation solutions. Our submission for the Harbour link project amounted to $145m, significantly less than our competitors. This was achieved by the use of innovative design techniques and working closely with our client’s preferred structural form and programming options.
